Can you live through construction? What are your goals for this space? Do you tend to lead a casual or more formal lifestyle? Do you entertain a lot? Do you need design that’s kid friendly, kid proof, or both? Are your pets up on the couch with you or on the floor? Is this project about a new look or a new lease on life?

These are just some of the questions WPL might ask you in the initial meeting. They insist their work reflect their clients’ needs, personalities, and lifestyle, not their own.

In 1982, Walter Peterson founded Weixler, Peterson & Luzi, now WPL Interior Design, a Philadelphia based interior design firm that does high-end residential and commercial work, nationally and internationally.

Walter, a detail oriented connoisseur of antiques, decorative arts, textiles and musical composition, has always offered thoughtful warmth and elegance to every job. Steven Weixler, who joined Peterson in 1983, brought expertise in architecture, historic restoration, electronics and lighting technology to the firm. While Marcello Luzi, who came on board in the late 80’s, as a draftsman with a background in finance, proved to be a visionary with exceptional communication skills.

Together the three became a formidable trio, integrating traditions of the past with an eye on the future, building on each other’s strengths while speaking all the languages (technical and otherwise) necessary to get complex jobs done from start to finish, from Philadelphia to Bermuda to Italy and back again.

Through it all, client satisfaction remained paramount, bringing repeat business and recognition. WPL is one of the few Philadelphia based Interior Design firms to be recognized in Architectural Digest. They have been granted ASID and Subzero awards multiple times and have been published in 6 books and countless publications, among them Design Times and Florida Design.

Sadly, in 2014, Steven Weixler passed away after a long illness. But at WPL, his legacy lives on. His shared wisdom and sensibilities continue to influence design decisions. Walter, Marcello, and their staff of six carry on, creating fresh, inspiring, relevant interiors that promise to stand the test of time.
