Opulent and grand were words that defined the last great era of truly sublime decorating, an era that included the master decorators. It was the early 1980’s with the backdrop of the Reagan era, when our founder, Walter Peterson, began his eponymous firm, which we now call WPL Interior Design. Trained in the golden age, Walter was ready to strike out on his own, and it was perfect timing on his part, because America was coming out of the poor economic climate of the 1970’s and luxury was back in style. We were also dealing with social and political issues, much like today. The styles change, the issues change, but many things, stay the same. Good design is classic.
