White cabinetry has long been considered a timeless choice when it comes to kitchen design. Most people perceive white kitchens as clean, spacious, bright, and the best choice for resale value and appeal. So it’s no wonder why white is a popular and safe direction for kitchens. In the past decade or so, most people have strayed away from color, as color can be a scary commitment. Even kitchens that had color were mostly touches of beige or other light accent colors.
While most of the kitchens we’ve designed in recent years have mostly been white or gray, we are excited to see a rise in popularity for kitchens with color. Last year, we completed two blue kitchens, and this year, we are about to finish two black kitchens. Homeowners are becoming more conscious of design and are having fun with bolder colors.
Choosing a Color for Your Kitchen
As mentioned before, it can be nerve-wracking to commit to a color for your kitchen. But there are many ways to wisely choose a color that you will love for your
kitchen. You can find pictures of other kitchens you love to pull inspiration from, but it’s also wise to take a look at your own kitchen and consider the following:
-
What style is your home and kitchen?
-
What is the lighting like in your kitchen?
-
Do you have an existing color palette to narrow down your choices?
-
What are your personal design preferences?
